Recipe for Jambon Beurre

 Ingredients:

Baguette (1, approximately 12 inches)
Unsalted butter (4 tablespoons, softened)
Ham (8 ounces, thinly sliced)
Dijon mustard (optional)
Salt (to taste)
Pepper (to taste)

Preparation

Set the oven temperature to 350°F (180°C). Cut the baguette in half lengthwise, so that you have a top and a bottom piece. On both sides of the baguette, equally distribute the softened butter. Arrange the ham slices thinly so that they cover the bottom half of the baguette. For extra taste, you can smear a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the ham. To taste, add a dash of salt and pepper to the ham. To make a sandwich, place the upper half of the baguette over the ham. Encase the sandwich assembly in aluminum foil. The sandwich should be wrapped in foil and baked for about ten minutes, or until the bread is warm and beginning to crisp. Take the jambon beurre out of the oven, open it, and cut it into individual portions.
Enjoy your traditional French jambon beurre!
